Where should the children’s alternate guardian live?
Location isn’t the only concern, but someone who is in the same town so schools and peer groups can stay intact is best. I have had to counsel clients that it is hard for me to believe that there is no one this side of Virginia or New Hampshire who can be a better caregiver than the aunt or grandparent they have in mind. Here again, putting your rationale in writing can help.
