Can you enforce moral standards that a judge could not order?
Absolutely. We have to be more thorough than the law. We can’t expect the same legal system that prescribes meager child support while rewarding unequal parenting time to suddenly do the right thing for children. Ideally, you have agreed on parenting standards, either before or during your divorce. Putting them in writing helps both parents to put their kids first even when it’s inconvenient, unlike the legal system that encourages only the bare minimum. Additional terms can be as minute as you want. While watching adult movies, drinking beer, or even practicing a particular religion may be completely legal, you can outlaw them in your own family if both spouses agree.
