Is there any way to split the difference between joint custody and sole custody?

Don’t surrender your life to the whim and will of a judge who doesn’t know you and may not even have kids or be able to relate to kids. You almost always have more power in mediation than you do in litigation. Joint custody must be negotiated. A judge will order sole custody unless both parents agree.
