Discuss the parenting schedule and the holiday schedule with your teens

Don't just agree to something without giving them a voice. Even if your kids want to spend the holidays with both of you, I would hope that would work (even if reluctantly) for the first year. A judge will bless any holiday arrangement that you agree to. The holidays are for your kids to enjoy, not for you to throw your weight around. You can always modify the parenting time schedule or the holiday schedule later by mutual agreement or court order, if you find that it’s not working. The best holiday schedule, at least for the first year, is one where both parents celebrate together with the children—but only if you can do it civilly and genuinely.
