Adult self-esteem and divorce, Part 4

Lack of equality as parents. Divorce is not a competition—it is a quest for your kids’ stability. An unequal parenting schedule is justified by reasons that reflect the kids’ best interests, not the egos of the parents. 50/50 parenting time is hard for most people to succeed at, but it’s pretty easy to make sure each parent sees the kids frequently. Picking them up from school, taking them to school, going to practices, having evening parenting time, and having more summer parenting time are all ways to equalize the relationship with the children even while the number of overnights is not equal.
